Can you see yourself as a gift to the world? I have always sensed that my purpose and destiny was bigger than I could imagine. How about you? When I was a very young woman, Joan of Arc was my hero and I often day dreamed about martyrdom. Of course, I had no idea what that meant, but it provoked many thoughts. When I became a Christian my questions became louder, bigger and even more persistent. God,what can I DO to change the world? What can I DO to have a ministry? How can I DO be your gift to the world?
He answered me in an audible voice. While working in my private office, I heard a voice behind me say, "JoAnne ...Just Be.Just be who you are." It has become my life message. When life begins to overwhelm me, I remember that day and hear again the voice of the Lord saying, "JUST BE" Worship me, love me, lean on me. Just BE who your are for out of BEing comes the ability to DO the impossible.
This past year has been extremely stressful and the mind battles have left me feeling very weary. I haven't felt like an intimate bride anticipating her bridegroom. And then God so graciously whispered in my spirit those familiar words. The words brushed over melike a soft breeze blowing through the trees on a warm summer night.
Today these two words carry a distinct assignment. As we take our warrior stance, God is asking us to " BE" ALERT to our surroundings, ALIVE to our spiritual gifts and AWAKE to His presence. It is our battle weaponry.
We are trained as God's secret agents. My husband's military training taught him how to keep his eyes roaming and his ears open to the things around him. Our commander in chief is asking us to poise ourselves in the same manner. Continually be aware of your surroundings. A look from someone in the supermarket may be the only sign you will need to touch them with a word of knowledge, a smile or a kind thought. Remember, out of Just Being comes the ability to DO the impossible.
Can you recall a time when you were alert to your surroundings and God showed up?
Are you alive in your spiritual gifts? Which gift seems to be the strongest? When was the last time you operated in this gift?
Can you remember a time when you were aware of the tangible presence of the Lord? What happened?
